Raised in the Finger Lakes region of New York, Rob Ellis was exposed to the "Great Outdoors" at an early age. By the time he was nine years old, he spent his summers swimming, sailing, hiking, and going on overnight camping trips with his friends.

In 1961 he attended the University of Colorado - Boulder and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. Family life and the demands of the business world limited his artistic production until the mid 1980's when he took up his artist's brushes once again.

Since then, Rob had had numerous one-man shows and has exhibited in various regional and national competitions.
